Celtic Utopia follows a new generation of artists and musicians who are reclaiming folk traditions and fusing them with hip-hop, punk, and experimental sound. Útóipe Cheilteach can be seen as a historical film. Diverse aspects of Ireland’s identity are discussed in the film, such as conservative Catholicism, rebellion, and the desires for a new, self-determined future. At the center are musicians, their folk music, and its role in holding space for communal grief. |
